The Wainscott Residence
The owners chose this 70’s house for its privacy, its open layout & its indoor/outdoor aesthetic. The challenge was to mix the modernity of the architecture with a classic twist to accommodate their pieces of collectible furniture and sizable art collection. A casual effortless style was achieved by creating comfortable,, livable spaces while emphasizing intimacy with nature. The neutral palette, enriched by textures, the exotic wood in the entryway walls, all added to creating a feeling of calm & openness complementing the beach environment & their art. Stone & marble were used throughout from the floating staircase to the custom designed bar & bathrooms. French 40’s furniture was complimented by Christian Liagre tables in the living space. Highlighting access to framed views of the landscape was achieved. Chic simplicity married to nature was the final result.
